Archive for January, 2011

Got  a box of tablecloths, candles, baskets, glassware, or other household knick-knacks?  On February 1st we will have a household goods swap, hoping to breath new life into things we’ve grown tired of.  Without spending a penny, we hope each member will go home with a new treasure.  If you’d like to participate, please bring anything that you’re no longer enjoying, and join in the fun!  We’ll also plan for our annual anniversary potluck dinner in March, celebrating our 46th anniversary.

At our January meeting, the Garden Club had a winter-sowing seed-starting workshop.  Members and guests brought plastic containers from our recycling bins, added seed-starting-soil and seeds provided by the club, and set them outside.  Pounded by snow, shrouded by ice – nonetheless we should see seedlings by the end of February in our mini-greenhouses.  Yes indeed, we are gardening in January and February.  Take that, old man winter!

And welcome to our newest members: Carolene, Edie, and Janet!  We’re so glad you’ve joined us.
