Congratulations to our newly minted Tree Troopers Jeff Haines & Bill Rappoport and all our hard-working Plant Sale volunteers for a tremendous success in 2022!

The Garden Club worked in partnership with the Watershed Steward Academy to train up these two new Tree Troopers, who supervised the distribution and planting of over 200 new native trees in 2022: 100 in the spring and another 100 delivered in the autumn — wildly exceeding our expectations. Thanks to all the volunteers who assisted Jeff and Bill with unloading, labeling, and sorting the trees in spring and fall — we couldn’t have done it without you all!

The Watershed Steward Academy provides these native trees at subsidized cost to any residents of Anne Arundel County. Native trees, especially oaks, provide important habitat and food sources for our local insect and bird populations. The Cape St. Claire Garden Club is excited to partner with the WSA to provide these trees at cost to our Plant Sale patrons in 2022, and to expand biodiversity in Cape St. Claire and our beloved Chesapeake Watershed.

Fall delivery of 100+ native trees. Each tree came with a free a bag of mulch.
